1952 Black Vincent
Lord,
I visited the Museum of Modern Art yesterday,
in New York!
Now there’s a place,
to make you feel small.
Buildings towering over you.
Anyway,
I was amazed at the things I saw.
All man- made!
There was a Vincent
all black and shiny.
No wonder Mollie took a ride on it.
We humans have an amazing eye for design.
We just love.
Making things,
making things work,
making things look good,
making things to please,
making things to use,
making things just to be!
Making “R us”,
it’s what we do!
It Got me thinking
Where did we inherit our creativity from?
You of course!
You made an intelligent design,
and designer,
When you made mankind.
Lord
Help me create something good today
Something that will reflect
Your influence
And purpose,Something shiny
Like a “Vincent”
Or even a “Van Gogh”

A Widow’s Story
Come closer,
Listen to me.
I don’t want to shout this out too loud.
It’s a bit private
I’ve got some advice for you.
I heard you were thinking about giving up.
Cutting your losses – going away.
I heard you’ve not got the stomach for it any more.
Your going to disappear
Back down
That’s how they win.
They’re counting on you,
to give up.
Don’t back down
I’m pretty well known
In these parts
I made a nuisance of myself.
You know.
I followed him everywhere!
Well, he wouldn’t give me justice
He was always too busy.
If I had been rich,
he would have taken notice.
He kept putting me off
“Come back tomorrow”
And when tomorrow came -
Well, it was the next day.
This went on for weeks
Till finally I said,
“How long are you going to keep me
Following after you.
I’m never going to give up
You’ve got a responsibility
To sort this out”
I just told him
I wouldn’t back down
Do you know what
The penny finally dropped
He listened
He heard my case
And he gave me justice!
Now if I had walked away
I’d still be
Angry
Frustrated
Mad
And bitter
I don’t feel that anymore
You see
I didn’t back down
I kept going
Even when I was totally embarrassed
And I got justice!
By the way, I told that story to Jesus
Do you know what he said
“I bet your glad God’s not like that Judge
He listens first timeâ€
