I’ve been round this corner- a million times,

In different places

You can’t hide- even refuse eye contact

No one is invisible!

They’ve seen me again.

How do they do it ?

Spot me

Clock me

Shock me

Its always the same familiar faces

Why?

Standing

Sitting

Staring

Back – looking at me

Looking for the crumbs from my table.

They’ve been people on this corner

For a million nights.

hammering, breaking stones,

being totally ignored

Selling trinkets

for a penny

Walking the line

Patiently being poisoned

Looking for an opening

electric windows

shut tight

No crumbs

Only reflections tonight

And a red tail light

If I stop on this corner

I’ll stay

I’ll cry

Tears will flow

I’ll never be the same again

I’m tired of this corner

Yet nothing will change

Till I stand on the corner myself

And feel the shame.
